Stop Online Piracy Act…. What a Joke!
The SOPA is irking me. Why is is that government has NO problem passing this bill but when it comes to jobs it seems to be a huge issue? Why is it that the fancy shmancy leeching politicians who live in D.C. can decide to take away our only means of getting music without going completely broke?
Something to think about is the fact that many people listen to music to get them through hard times and to ease pain, but those people may not be able to pay $1.29 for ONE song.
A friend of mine pointed out “They understand that if they ban media sharing, then they could effectively monopolize the industry and charge whatever they please. And since it’s not a utility, the government ban on such monoplies cannot and frankly, probably won’t even bother to try, stop them.” I happen to agree. I think that our government needs a reality check and not only the government but society. Not everyone can afford the next $600.00 iPhone but people will go bankrupt, or not pay bills just so they can own one. Not only that record labels, filmmakers, etc. can charge whatever they like for their albums and movies because, well how else is anyone going to get it? Keep in mind that our economy already sucks! Most people nowadays are unemployed and struggling to make ends meet. Is it really so bad that we want to download a song or a movie to temporarily take our mind off the pain and the stress?
I also hope that the creators of SOPA realize once they start “seizing” these websites such as Megaupload, etc. not only will people try to keep crashing government sites such as whitehouse.gov but they will also find ways of going around it. Remember where there is a will there is a way.
Say what you will but this will bother me to no end. The Stop Online Piracy Act will be repealed just like the Prohibition. Mark my words. Americans are like dogs. Cute and cuddly until you piss it off then you better be running and hiding because they’ll be after you and never put any trust in you again.
